Total Compensation Estimator  Job posting category (Open Competitive) Your Specific Responsibilities: This position will be responsible to the SENIOR HEALTH EDUCATOR - SES for implementation of the county wide WIC program including clinic and outreach. This position will work out of the Daytona Beach WIC site but will provide WIC and Nutrition Services at the various sites throughout Volusia County. The employee is expected to arrive at assigned location (daily) on time at the provided start time. Mileage will only be paid in accordance with State policies for travel to different service site locations within the county.
Certifies WIC eligible participants. Provides nutrition assessment, certification and counseling of WIC applicants as a Competent Professional Authority (CPA) using VENA (Value Enhanced Nutritional Assessment) counseling techniques. Completes all initial and ongoing training required for a CPA. Assesses participants for high risk status and completes high risk care plans per current protocol. Provides low and high risk contacts per protocol. Documents interactive counseling sessions per required format. Promotes breastfeeding for pregnant/postpartum women. Completes quality assurance for high-risk clients monthly as assigned. Provides/documents healthcare referrals for community resources, as needed by the participant.
Implement WIC outreach objectives to include all WIC sites according to established goals set by state WIC office and local agency. Provide outreach packets to physician staff and community organizations. Attend community events as a representative of the WIC program.
Other Related duties:
Timely accurate completion of EARs, timesheets, time summaries and trainings in compliance with local agency requirements.
Emergency duty including but not limited to shelter duty as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to plan, organize, and evaluate a nutrition program or project. 
Knowledge of the science and current practice of nutrition and dietetics.
Ability to determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Qualifications: Minimum -

Must have a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in nutrition science, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition
Must be willing to travel to outlaying sites using your own vehicle if needed (mileage will be provided in accordance with agency policy) and/or state vehicle
Preferred -
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
WIC Experience preferred
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Ability to develop educational training plans and supporting materials.
