Closing Date: June 16, 2024Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Mine Shift Supervisor.Reporting to the Mine Operations General SupervisorRotation schedule will be 2 weeks on-site with 2 weeks off-siteResponsibilities:• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures• Protects the safety and health of employees by promoting and enforcing safe working procedures and health, hygiene programs in accordance with Company policy and appropriate regulations.• Ensure the Mine Operation complies with all environmental regulations.• Effectively manage the operating crews by following, enforcing and administering company policies in a fair and equitable manner.• Effectively respond to crew concerns where possible and communicate issues that are outside your area of control.• Coordinate, schedule and monitor load haul mining activities on a shift basis and to motivate his/her crew to safely and efficiently meet the production objectives at minimum cost.• Communicate effectively with the Engineering, Geology, Maintenance and Mill Operations departments in providing information and coordinating activities to ensure development, production and grade objectives are realized as defined in the Operating Plan.• Complete the necessary production and statistical reporting requirements accurately and in a timely fashion to ensure that the proper flow of information is maintained.• Oversee the development and training of personnel to ensure safe work practices and conditions, productive employees and to participate in hiring, discipline and terminations, as required, in accordance with Company policy. Close cooperation with the Mine Trainers is required to achieve uniform goals and standards of operator capabilitieso Represent and support the Company in its goals and objectives through regular crew meetings, safety meetings and by monitoring and changing crew performance.o Act in the capacity of General Supervisor, Mine Operations during absences, as required.o Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:• High School Diploma or equivalent• Seven (7) years of open pit mining experience• One (1) year of lead-hand Supervisory experience• Must have a working knowledge of MSHA Standards.• Excellent interpersonal abilities, self-motivated, with a willingness to train others• Highly motivated team player• Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly spreadsheet, word processing and presentation applications• Excellent problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities• Proven and exemplary leadership skillsAbout TeckSuccessful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a physical assessment, drug screen and a background check.
