Contract Period: 10 monthReports to: Middle School principalPosition summary and purpose:Monte Cassino School is a Catholic Benedictine, independent, co-ed school, Grades PK3-8, with an Early Childhood Learning Center (PK3-K), Elementary School (grades 1-4), and Middle School (grades 5-8) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We are searching for ateacher who can embrace the joys and challenges of working in a school, celebrating the wonderful moments and navigating the messy ones with empathy and resilience.Teacher duties and responsibilities:Create a positive learning environment for all students.Follow Oklahoma and/or national standards to teach assigned subject area.Plan and prepare appropriate lessons and units of study.Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress.Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of students.Support students academically, socially and spiritually throughout their time at Monte Cassino.Provide assistance to students during tutorial.Teach/lead an advisory class as assigned by principal.May be required to organize, supervise and chaperone field trips, dances, or other school activities.Work closely with teachers, counselors, principal and other staff on school initiatives.Be an active participant in the life of the middle school.Assist with duties such a carline, lunch/recess supervision.The desired candidate has:A Bachelor's degree in education or teaching subject areaTeaching experienceExcellent oral and written communication skillsStrong problem solving skillsCollegial disposition and ability to work along side adults in the communitySense of humor, creativity and flexibility to adapt as neededPassion for working with students aged 10-14Proficiency with technologyWillingness to coach a sport within the athletic departmentPhysical requirements:Works at desk and on a computer for periods of time; must be able to operate office equipmentWorks in a fast-paced environment, dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlinesMust have the physical energy and stamina to move about campus throughout theday, including climbing staircases; may work long hoursBe able to occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 50 poundsWorks intermittently in a variety of weather conditions, including the possibility of heat and coldHow to apply:Monte Cassino is looking for an educator with experience in independent, Catholic, public, or charter schools.
