The LVN plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical facility by preparing and maintaining exam rooms, assisting with patient placement, managing messages, handling refills and prescriptions, and providing essential support to our healthcare team. Key Responsibilities:  Prepare and Maintain Exam Rooms:
Keep supplies stocked in exam rooms, including table paper, capes, pillowcases, lab supplies, and gloves (ensuring one extra box in each room). Maintain supplies in the patient's restroom for urine analysis. Change out sharps containers as needed. Clean and prepare exam rooms for the next patient. Placing Patients in Rooms: Weigh and measure patients, documenting height. Obtain vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation. Take temperature during sick visits and repeat as per doctor's orders. Ensure accurate documentation. Review medication lists with patients, documenting any changes. Check Messages: Regularly check messages throughout the day and before the end of each shift. Respond to patient inquiries promptly and accurately, forwarding messages to doctors for necessary action. Ensure all messages are addressed and documented in the patient's chart daily, even if lab results are pending. Refills and Prescriptions: Respond to refill or prescription requests before the end of each workday. Document medication details accurately, including name, dose, strength, amount given, and number of refills. Obtain doctor's authorization for medications not listed in the patient's current medication list. Handle controlled substances prescriptions by printing prescriptions and obtaining necessary signatures from doctors. Education and Experience: Hold a valid Texas RN or LVN license. Possess current CPR Heartsaver AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a medical setting. Demonstrate excellent communication skills to effectively interact with and educate patients.
