Pay PhilosophyThe typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.DescriptionThis unique opportunity allows you to join the GRS Controllership team supporting GRS home office consolidated and country accounting as well as supporting key initiatives working with our global operations and segments Operations. You will work closely with Home Office teams and local Market teams in driving standardization and consistency of financial accounting and reporting processes and establishing best practices across GRS. You will independently plan and monitor the completion of book close processes and support the analysis and reporting of results in a deadline focused environment, working with the team to gather information and resolve issues as they arise. You will use increasing business acumen and analytical expertise to perform ad hoc financial analysis and effectively communicates the results to management. You will also lead efforts to continuously improve processes to increase the speed and effectiveness of financial analysis.Responsibilities:    Prepares and reviews complex standard and ad hoc reports (monthly, quarterly and annual book close; which includes reconciliations, controls, manual journal entries, preparation of financial statements) utilizing a broad knowledge of accounting principles. Presents findings/recommendations to Management.Support Quarterly and Annual Footnote coordination and preparation.Collaborates with various home office and country stakeholders to ensure financial results are complete, accurate and timely as well as facilitating the explanation of results to stakeholders and leadership.Facilitates discussion and manages relationships with local country offices, helping to identify best practices and process efficiencies as well as troubleshooting to resolve reporting issues.Oversees a financial system, coordinating enhancements and assisting in resolving production problems.Responsible for complex accounting and financial analysis. Prepares reports efficiently and effectively utilizing advanced technical accounting knowledge.   Ensures appropriate use of historical information and current trends. Identifies, recommends and executes resolutions to issues as they arise.Responsible for following enterprise risk management and compliance procedures. Follows risk management and quality compliance processes to include quality control compliance (i.e. attestation). Follows safeguards to protect company assets and ensure compliance with Corporate and Company procedures.Leads projects of moderate to high scope and complexity. Communicates project opportunities and constraints to Management while monitoring project status. May also actively participate in cross-functional project of moderate to complex scope.Fosters the development of teammates by sharing expertise and experience through training or reviewing their work.Preferred Experience:Bachelor's degree (Finance or Accounting preferred) or equivalent experience.A minimum of 5 years of financial related experience is preferred.Solid understanding of accounting knowledge/skills is required.Must demonstrate attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously to drive results.  Strong written and verbal communication skills. Communicates effectively with teammates and others, leading meetings and interacting with increasingly higher levels of management to gather information and effectively present results and recommendations.Strong Excel SkillsExperience initiating and leading projects, and ability to work with senior managers and key stakeholders in SBU/Corporate DepartmentsExperience in SAP, HFM, Finance BI, and/or Hyperion Essbase preferred.QualificationsBachelor`s degree (Finance or Accounting) required.CPA or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.Minimum of 5 years of finance experience.Must demonstrate attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously to drive results.Communicates well with own team and across organizational boundaries to ensure the successful completion of shared goals.Comfortable leading meetings and able to communicate issues and trends to senior management and other groups at the appropriate level of detail.Solid understanding of Finance Tools and Analytical Methods.About UsAt Liberty Mutual, our purpose is to help people embrace today and confidently pursue tomorrow.
