Job DescriptionThe Interim Payroll Lead is responsible to oversee the Payroll and HR admin to day-to-day Payroll and HR Admin processing for a multiple location-based business with a centralized payroll consisting of both hourly and salaried employees. You will be responsible for preparing, assisting, and entering data into our HRIS system and other various systems for certain payroll groups. The role requires systems knowledge and helps to ensure corporate policy, regulations and service standards are adhered to while supervising and coaching the team for complex/escalated topics.ResponsibilitiesVerifying and entering employee status changes into the HRIS system; new hires, rehires, change of status, terminations, and changes in personal information and banking information Provides general administrative support such as filing electronic and hard copy and tracking deadlines Maintains confidentiality with regards to employee relations and organizational changes, security of information, data, and files Maintains effective working relationships with the direct team and maintains strong relationships with key members of the Business Units Participate in daily data audit (HRIS System) to ensure consistency and accuracy prior to importing in Payroll system (ADP) Provides back-up for other administrators in the shared service centre as required Leading payroll for the following jurisdictions by ensuring accurate payroll processing, tax set-ups and compliance: Canada and USA Keep up-to-date with technical expertise and knowledge on existing and emerging payroll trends, legal, regulatory or governmental requirements applicable to ((e.g., wage and hour, garnishments, tax matters, 401(k) and other benefit deductions) Assist with accounting functions supporting the general ledger and reconciliations Oversee audit requests Accurately process bi-weekly payroll for multiple business units' salaried employees while review and supporting the payroll process for hourly employees Lead the year-end payroll processing cycle, reporting/ filing all government agency deadlines and year end accounting Ensure that all remittances, deductions and dues have been handled in time and according to legislation QualificationsWork ExperiencePost-Secondary education in Human Resources/Payroll or related fieldCanadian payroll certification or equivalent Data entry experience plus minimum 5 years' experience processing payrollExperience in US payroll practices including multi-state processing, policy and legislative itemsExperience in multi-entity, payroll shared service-based environmentExperience working on ADP software and experience in ERP systems (Oracle preferred)Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-changing and dynamic environment with evolving systems and proceduresKnowledge RequiredSolid understanding of payroll processes and relevant legislation, source deduction and government remittance proceduresProven ability to prioritize, set, and meet deadlines while working under tight constraints and a strong ability to manage multiple tasks to completion at the same timeCustomer service mindset - both internal and external customersExcellent interpersonal skillsEffective communication skillsAbility to work both independently and collaborativelySelf-starter, works well with minimum supervisionIntermediate skills in excel, PowerPoint and Process flow & Documentation.
