Inside Business Development Associate Location Ohio : The Inside Business Development Associate (BDA) supports Business Development (BD) staff, initiatives, and tactics across their assigned distributors. As a developmental role, the Inside BDA will typically service and manage distributor relationships for Coverys' Small Producer Offices (SPOs). Essential Duties & Responsibilities Relationship Management: Manage the service relationship, renewal retention, periodic submission and new business production, as well as serve as the SPO's overall primary point-of-contact as assigned a SPO distributor plant (and in some cases, direct clients) for which he/she is responsible. Producer assignments: Assigned distributors will typically consist of smaller, limited growth agent and broker offices who still require dedicated servicing to maximize retention of their profitable business. Prioritize producer management & outreach across large volume of SPOs. Develop and maintain effective producer relationship development and management predominantly via phone/email/Zoom communication platforms. Customer Service: Serve as first responder to requests from agents, brokers and clients for various administrative, distributor education, and maintenance needs, including billing, contractual, commission, customer service, Portal training/usage etc. Outstanding responsiveness in acknowledging & responding to producer inquiries and issues. Own and resolve routine service & administrative issues (renewal certs, loss runs, etc.); awareness to involve BDL/Ops with more complex issues. Producer training around Agent/Broker Portal, other self-service tools, and as appropriate, select Coverys products & capabilities. Portfolio Analytics: Assess performance of assigned distributors by the utilization & proficiency of PPR 2.0 and other analytic tools. Present aggregated (and/or outlier) performance results and trending to BDDs, regularly. Assess & monitor achievable potential of assigned distributors; ability to translate performance results into recommendations & action items (i.e. producer termination, potential hand-off to BDL due to growth potential, etc.) Organizational Understanding: Seek to rapidly develop and grow foundational familiarity and proficiency around Coverys' Brand including key products and capabilities. This includes an understanding of Coverys' key Business Units and Functional Areas, and key personnel. Producer Segmentation: Develop an understanding of BD&D's Segmentation Strategy and will mobilize such within their assigned distributor plant (particularly by way of underperforming producer terminations). Vet segmentation plans through their assigned SPO's to assign segmentation status, as warranted. Multi-Territorial Awareness: Contribute to collective territorial objectives of Field BDLs including their Profitability and Segmentation Strategies. Competition & Market Awareness: Understand the competitive landscape/environment within geography(s) where the assigned distributors are located. Target Account Strategy: Follow-up on website generated leads (public website and Hub Spot Marketing Automation) to identify viability of opportunity and controlling broker for handoff to BDL. Marketing & Promotional Support: Look for opportunities to direct SPOs to Agent & Broker Portal for Coverys marketing content and thought leadership resources. On rare occasion, they might be asked to attend and staff company booths at tradeshows, and assist the BD staff with logistics in preparation for same. Special Projects: Serve on special committees, projects, and focus groups pertaining to departmental and corporate initiatives, as needed. Participate on a project or deadline managed by another BDL, as warranted. Travel Expectation: Minimal to Moderate. No more than 15%. Day travel to select Ohio-based producers will occasionally be expected; other infrequent departmental meetings as required Education, Experience, Competencies & Values Bachelor's degree and/or commensurate professional experience in the field of insurance. A minimum of 1-3 years' experience within Professional Liability products & Underwriting or healthcare industry, preferred. Experience with independent/regional agents as well as telephone sales. Superior Customer Service Focus and relationship management. Organization and Prioritization skills in an independent setting. Communication/Interpersonal skills (internal/external, written/verbal). Technology - MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Word), Salesforce, Tableau. Reporting & interpretation. Attention to detail, documentation & process. Salary Range is $ 82,000-$112,000. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors that are unique to each candidate including location, skill set, experience, qualifications and education.
