What You'll Do Ohio Department of Public Safety - Director's Office/Information Technology (IT Support) Report in location : 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223 Work hours: (Unusual or rotating shift) Monday-Friday; Working hours may vary (7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. or 10:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.) CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE) Rotating weeks or days (May be subject to change). PRIMARY TECHNOLOGY : SQL (SQL Server Management Tools) SECONDARY TECHNOLOGY : Microsoft Windows THIS POSITION IS BEING RE-POSTED. YOU WILL NEED TO RE-APPLY TO BE CONSIDERED.
Under the direction of assigned supervisor within the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS), Information Technology Office (ITO), provide Tier II technical, maintenance, & documentation support & service to law enforcement information system or software users (e.g., perform analyses & guide end users through troubleshooting procedures using diagnostic techniques; utilize software tools (i.e., Microsoft Tools) to inspect databases; installation & configuration of desktop software & hardware; enter metadata into repositories; create & provide system process documentation to end users); Process service requests & escalate more complex or unresolved issues to next level of support as needed (e.g., document & pass on any feedback or suggestions by customers to the appropriate business area &/or development team; respond to & diagnose problems through discussions with business area, technical team & end users, etc.); Research & generate enhancements for existing infrastructure, software or database systems or procedures.
Provide Tier I assistance or support to information system end users or lower-level IT personnel (e.g., operating system functionality; troubleshoot errors; end user login/access credentials; peripheral device setup & management); Document events, problems & their resolution within systems such as Service Now or Project Tracking System (PTS); Follow-up and update customer status & information; promotes system security and awareness by adhering to the Agency's and/or State's IT security policy(s) and standards; Stay current regarding new technologies, standards and techniques and learns and/or acquires new skills as required; perform other duties as assigned. Completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; 12 mos. combined work experience as specified by the agency position description & job posting. Or 18 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: computers and/or telecommunications software/hardware, applications, support products, projects or databases for small scale systems or programs or pieces of larger systems or programs including 12 mos. combined work experience as specified by the agency position description & job posting. Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
