Under the general direction of the Plant Manager, the Improvement and Reliability Engineer has responsibility for identifying and implementing plant-level improvement opportunities to help Torrance Polystyrene Facility to meet and exceed the EH&S, cost, quality, and asset utilization goals.This position leads the efforts to ensure that equipment serving the production processes operates at the highest level of reliability and process safety, while maintaining best in class asset integrity performance. To do this, this position leads the implementation of proven processes, programs, tools, and strategies that result in sustainable asset availability.Primary ResponsibilitiesMaintain the Plant Technology and Capital Project Plan. Maintain contact with operations, maintenance, and logistics personnel to:o Review specific problems.o Maintain standards of safety, process conditions, quality, and equipment condition.o Keep personnel informed of any changes.Implement Improvements based on Most Effective Technology as defined by the AmSty Technology Leader.Work with outside engineering firms to prepare packages for Capital Project implementation.Work with contractors to complete installation of capital projects safely, on time and under budget.Participate in audits including Consolidated EH&S, Tech Center, ESRA and RC-PHA.Assure project work is done according to AmSty's guidelines and training is complete before start-up.Participate in leading monthly safety meetings on a variety of topics.Work with appropriate resources, both AmSty and external resources, on site and off site to deliver the best technology to the plant.Communicate to plant personnel the status of projects and improvement ideas.Monitor changes due to project work to assure desired results are occurring.Use data driven analysis to identify the impact of improvements.Assure the work is done according to specification good engineering practices.Work with maintenance, engineering, and construction resources to safely implement capital and expense improvement projects.Work with Maintenance and IE to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.Serve as Maintenance and Reliability focal point for corporate goals and initiatives.Ensure project work improves plant housekeeping and has a positive environmental impact.The incumbent must work closely with Production Engineer, Plant Manager, Maintenance groups and Business Technology Leader.Problems are technically related and are not repetitive, requiring good judgment, extensive experience, and knowledge of policies and procedures.The incumbent works closely with all plant personnel.
