Heat Plant Specialists operate, adjust, monitor, maintain, clean and repair high and/or low pressure boilers and hot water heat generating equipment, auxiliary equipment such as fuel and combustion systems, compressors, pumps, steam lines, steam traps, heat exchangers, water lines, controls, gauges, and emergency power generators.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
Position is located in Lovelock, NV - incumbent must be willing to work at this location. Heat Plant Specialist operate, adjust, monitor, maintain, clean and repair high and/or low pressure boilers, hot water heat generating equipment and auxiliary equipment. Incumbent plans, assigns and supervise the work of Central Plant staff. Incumbents are responsible of purchasing requests, data entry for various computerized engery management systems. To see full Class Specifications visit: To Qualify In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements: Qualifications Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Completion of a recognized heat plant apprenticeship program followed by two years of journey level experience as a heat plant specialist; OR two years as a Heat Plant Specialist III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
