Job Summary: The Extrusion Saw Helper will gain knowledge of saw equipment, processes, systems, and daily operations. Responsibilities include stacking materials according to procedures, learning tail-stretcher equipment, and transitioning between grade 1 positions. The role involves understanding press performance metrics and plant systems. The Helper supports the Saw Operator by checking the quality of extruded products, including critical dimensions, and cut length. The Helper will also learn troubleshooting techniques for saw equipment and sequence issues in collaboration with maintenance. The position supports leadership by promoting good housekeeping, organization, and team motivation, aiming to improve press performance through efficient time management, high-quality standards, and self-accountability.
Required Education/Experience: Proficiency in comprehending and executing fundamental instructions in English. Basic math skills, use a calculator and read a tape measure. Possession of basic mathematical competencies, including the ability to operate a calculator and interpret measurements using a tape measure. Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to collaborate harmoniously within a team setting. Proficiency in operating and maintaining essential tools and measuring equipment. Capability to operate manufacturing equipment efficiently and safely is necessary. Effective communication skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Strong organizational abilities are essential for managing tasks effectively and efficiently. Job Responsibilities: Understand and locate product cut lengths as specified for the process, and know the acceptable frequency of verification, including at shift changes, stoppages, new dies/orders, first cut, and last cut. Understand and locate cut tolerances for each customer/order to ensure adherence to cut length specifications. Assist in emptying the saw chip collector at the end of each shift or as needed. Handle materials with care to prevent scratches, dents, and any other damage during transitions. Follow stacking procedures meticulously to ensure product integrity. Ensure that material has adequate spacer bars and is aligned consistently to prevent denting. Ensure all completed racks/free stacks have saw chips efficiently blown out from both ends prior to aging. Learn procedural information and quality alerts to maintain high standards.
