ABOUT THE POSITION
Performs various assignments in service maintenance, installation, new machine start-ups, and repairs on heavy equipment, usually at customers locations. Must be familiar with specifications for testing, troubleshooting, reading/interpreting blueprints and diagrams, and the operation of Astec equipment or equivalent. Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. This position may also train customers employees in proper operation and maintenance of equipment. May frequently interact with engineers to resolve problems in the field and/or to provide recommendations for improvements of equipment design or operation. Key Deliverables
Provide service and customer support during visits and dispatches.
Manage all on-site installation, repair, and maintenance.
Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solution(s).
Produce timely and detailed service reports.
Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings. Key Activities & Responsibilities
Travel in service truck or company provided vehicle to customer site to maintain and/or repair all Astec equipment in the field as scheduled or directed.
Perform various emergency and scheduled repairs to Astec equipment as requested by the customer, Service Manager, or other designated personnel.
Deliver and prepare machine documentation or field reports to aid in identifying the root cause(s) of service issues and avoid future warranty claims.
Communicate effectively with customers and Service Manager to schedule field jobs.
Able to explain and train onsite customers about the repair, installation, or testing being performed on a scheduled machine.
Follow up with customers, vendors, and other personnel as needed to resolve service issues to completion.
Proficient in reading and interpreting maintenance manuals, schematics, and blueprints for electrical, hydraulic, and diesel engine issues.
Provide occasional technical support over the phone.
Team-oriented with a strong work ethic and able to function effectively in a fast-paced work environment.
Represent Astec in a positive, consistent, and professional manner at all times with a variety of internal/external customers, vendors, and suppliers.
Proficient in promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with training guidelines.
Adhere to established company policies and procedures, paying special attention to safety regulations.
Maintain cleanliness in designated workspace by practicing 6S principles to reduce safety risks.

Manufacturing Environment
The shop manufacturing environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions, and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, and very warm and chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times, consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.
