Position Details Summary of Duties
Highly qualified to teach elementary special education. Provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning school environment in which students receiving special education support can fully access the curriculum and available resources. Collects and analyzes data to make instructional and behavioral decisions.

Qualifications/Requirements
Must possess a valid Special Education Certificate Must possess a valid Michigan Elementary or Secondary Teaching Certificate and be Highly Qualified with an endorsement in the areas of Emotional Impairment (SE) highly preferred , Autism Spectrum Disorder (SV) or Learning Disabilities (SM), Cognitive Impairment (SA) Experience providing specialized instruction and programming to students with emotional impairments and behavior needs preferred Thorough understanding of Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) Assists students and teaching staff in implementing students' IEP's and behavior management plans. Maintain accurate and complete student records, complete progress monitoring, and prepare student focused IEPs, as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations Collaborate with parents, teachers, itinerant service providers, and other professionals to develop individualized education programs (IEPs) designed to promote students' educational, physical, and social/emotional development Experience coordinating and running effective team meetings, BIP meetings, and REED meetings Must possess strong collaboration and communication skills when working with general education teachers and related service staff Ability to create behavior, academic and social programs to meet the needs of individual students Experience providing instruction in multiple settings including co-teaching, push-in and traditional modalities, while maintaining a least restrictive environment Willing to be trained in and maintain certifications such as Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR Experience in working with and guiding Instructional Assistants with implementation of behavior intervention plans, scheduling and daily management Experience with accommodations and modifications to the general education curriculum Compensation
