Under general supervision, the Director of Sports Management manages and maintains the college's sports publications, including Cornerstone communications. Under the direction of the Director of Cornerstone SA, the position also assists Cornerstone SA with operations management and provides guidance to organizations seeking 501 ©(3) status. The Director of Sports Management Operations assists the Dean's Office with experiential learning and recruiting activities and teaches two sports law and sports finance related courses per semester.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

? Provides operations and administrative support to Cornerstone, a program funded by the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation.
? Maintain and maintain the college's sports publications and social media including the Cornerstone blog.
? Assist with experiential learning activities, including oversight of professional sport engagements.
? Arrange student visitations to sport industry sites to gain more practical experiences and develop co-op sport management experiences for students
? Provide academic advisement to students
? Teach sport law, sport finance or related courses
? Serve as the college's contact person with Niagara Athletics and Recreation
? Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

% of Time
40% Cornerstone operational support ;
30% Teaching activities;
10% Assist with student experiential learning activities
10% Student Academic Advisement
10% Communications support

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1) Ability to read and comprehend various forms, documentation, files and information in the department.
2) Ability to manage budgets.
3) Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
4) Proficiency to handle various office machines including but not limited to: calculator, computer, copier and applicable software
5) Proficiency in operating equipment in teaching kitchen.
6) Ability to receive telephone calls, respond to inquiries and communicate with others by telephone.
7) Must possess significant experience teaching foodservice and hospitality operations.
8) Must possess practical hands-on experience in instructing students in food and beverage
management courses.

ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS:

The functions of the position usually performed standing, but may require some amount of time sitting. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying and other movements may be required. Tasks involving working on a computer keyboard, calculator, cutting, labeling, and taping involve involves extensive wrist and hand
movements. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury to themselves or others.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

1) Master's degree required, juris doctorate degree preferred;
2) Experience teaching or equivalent professional activities.
3) Education and experience in youth, collegiate, and professional sport industries.
