Title: Director of Production
Location: Central Iowa
The production director will create and oversee policies and procedures which ensure that the productivity of the organization is optimized. You will work with teams to make sure that processes are implemented and operated efficiently, including fulfilling order and meeting deadlines.
Duties:
Including but not limited to:
• Responsible for direction, coordination, and evaluation of the company Manufacturing Facilities
• Interact, visit, and communicate with various vendors/customers regarding necessary changes to improve operations
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives
• Review production costs and product quality, to maximize labor and material costs to improve profitable operations
• Research and assess viability of new technologies to improve operations / develop new products
• Participate in strategic planning process
• Ensure training is provided an relevant measurable objectives are set for all production facilities/teams
• Monitor and take necessary actions to ensure safe work conditions
• Manage assigned personnel in performance of their duties including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, training, evaluation, scheduling work activities, discipline and discharge
• Establish and monitor individual and team goals aligned with business strategies and objectives
• Provides a leadership role in the integration of efforts throughout the plant promoting a positive work environment and employee engagement
• Conducts regular scheduled departmental meetings to enhance communications
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Communications or related field
• 7+ years of relevant progressive experience in manufacturing, Master's degree preferred
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and technical skills to drive manufacturing process improvements in a TPS or related CI environment.
• Team Player – ability to perform as a member of the senior leadership team and to coach and mentor management personnel to promote and instill the Thombert mission
• Understanding of engineering principles and practices, including ability to read blueprints and manufacturing schematics
• Strong written, and verbal communication skills across corporate personnel and rank and file plant personnel
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other software packages
