Position Overview: As the Director of Pharmacy, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient management of our pharmacy operations. Reporting to the Vice President of Pharmacy Management and collaborating closely with Hospital Administration, you will oversee all aspects of pharmaceutical services, from procurement to patient counseling.
Responsibilities:
Compliance and Regulation: Ensure adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements, including the evaluation, selection, procurement, and distribution of drugs. Interpret physician medication orders and maintain compliance with state, federal, and organizational policies.
Patient Care: Compound and dispense prescribed medications and provide professional consultation to patients. Uphold patient confidentiality and maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions.
Team Supervision: Lead and supervise onsite staff, including pharmacists and technicians, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
Operational Excellence: Collaborate with hospital and organizational leadership to plan, organize, and direct pharmacy operations. Manage restock, maintenance, contract renewals, and other operational aspects.
Quality Improvement: Drive quality improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for process enhancements to improve efficiency and enhance patient care.
Collaboration and Communication: Work cooperatively with remote pharmacists, physicians, and other departments to meet patient needs effectively.
Requirements:
Professionalism: Ability to represent the organization in a positive and professional manner. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical business practices at all times.
Judgment and Interpersonal Skills: Exercise sound judgment and interact effectively with diverse stakeholders. Demonstrate professionalism and remain composed in challenging situations.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in utilizing pharmaceutical equipment, including automated dispensing machines and compounding equipment.
Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations governing pharmacy operations. Ensure compliance with Georgia Board rules, laws, and accreditation standards.
Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay abreast of industry developments and participate in ongoing education and training initiatives.
Qualifications:
PharmD degree from an accredited institution
Active pharmacy license in good standing
Previous experience in pharmacy management or leadership role preferred
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
