Job Description: Elementary Director of Curriculum and Instruction
Overview:
LINC Academy, a new public charter school in Columbus, OH, is seeking an Elementary Director of Curriculum and Instruction (Grades K-2) to join our Founding Team for the 2024-25 School Year. We will open in August 2024 in the Franklinton neighborhood to serve students in Grades K-2, with a plan to grow to Grades K-5.
Our intentionally small elementary school focuses on high academic standards, leadership skill development, and community. In a safe, supportive, and academically rigorous learning environment, students will experience an instructional and cultural program that deliberately, skillfully, and authentically engages them in a developmentally appropriate learning experience.
Our approach includes:
? Rigorous, research-based curriculum that supports students to develop a love for learning, to think critically, and to achieve academic success.
? Intentional focus on early literacy skills, including word study, phonemic awareness, and daily writing and independent reading opportunities.
? Daily programming to build leadership and social-emotional skills, delivered through whole-school Morning Motivation assemblies and classroom morning meetings.
? Joyful monthly whole-school celebrations and community activities that promote a positive school culture and recognize student efforts in demonstrating LINC school values and leadership habits in action.
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Director of Curriculum and Instruction to work closely with the Principal and Chief Schools Officer to implement LINC Academy's instructional vision - including managing the ongoing development, implementation, and continuous improvement of LINC Academy's academic model - in alignment with the school's mission and foundational beliefs. We offer frequent professional development and leadership opportunities to enhance our staff members' impact in the classroom, school, and beyond.
Essential Functions:
Instructional Leadership and Coaching
? Work closely with the Principal and Chief Schools Officer to develop a plan to implement LINC Academy's K-2 academic model, and to ultimately expand that model to 3-5.
? Regularly observe classrooms and serve as a model teacher through demonstrating and sharing best practices.
? Lead staff members through goal setting, coaching, feedback, and evaluation to continuously improve their craft.
? Identify, develop, and facilitate instructional professional development opportunities for staff members that align to yearly school goals and priorities.
? Oversee the administration of all summative and formative assessments.
? Manage the collection, analysis, and evaluation of school performance data to make holistic and individual recommendations for improving instructional practices.
School Culture
? Foster a responsive, inclusive environment that nurtures trust and respect with students and families.
? Model the LINC Leadership Habits through all interactions with students, staff, families, and community partners.
? Actively participate in school-wide community-building activities and events, including daily Morning Motivation.
Team Collaboration and School Leadership
? Serve as a member of the School Leadership Team.
? In partnership with the Principal, ensure alignment of instructional practices and goals to school-wide priorities.
? Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and team meetings.
? Participate in the daily functions and routines of the school and adhere to school-wide policies and procedures.
? Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to address the needs of students and the school community.
? Embrace and incorporate feedback in the spirit of constant improvement.
? Fulfill professional commitments by ensuring punctuality and consistently meeting deadlines.
Qualifications:
? Bachelor's degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
? Experience in a teacher leadership or other school leadership role is highly preferred.
? Minimum of three years of lead teaching experience at the elementary school level (K-2 highly preferred).
? Demonstrated elementary content expertise.
? Enthusiastic about urban education and dedicated to our mission, including our focus on
leadership and social-emotional skill development.
? Proficient in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data.
? Receptive to feedback and desire to grow professionally.
? Highly organized.
? Communicates effectively with students, families, and peers.
? Thrives in fast-paced, start-up settings; adept at multitasking and finding clear solutions
