Employment Status : Regular, Exempt, GHEA Bargaining Member

Position Summary: Assist high school students, parents, and school staff to develop and nurture positive learning experiences by providing a comprehensive guidance program within the 11-12 grades.

Instruction and Leadership :
Provide comprehensive support to students in grades 11-12, addressing academic, social, and emotional Coordinate service learning and volunteer opportunities to fulfill student requirements and enhance community engagement. Collaborate with students and teachers to develop personalized academic plans, including IEP and 504 meetings. Utilize PowerSchool for data entry and tracking student progress. College counseling coordinator with duties included but not limited to: -Providing guidance to students regarding academic planning, course selection, and extracurricular activities to align with their college and career goals
College search and application assistance College planning for students grades 9-12 Financial aid and scholarships (FAFSA, etc) College visit coordination Workshops for students and families (writing workshop, informational, scholarships, etc.)
Recommendation letters Transcript management Professional development and networking (conferences, staying current, etc.) Maintaining accurate records of student progress, college acceptances, and other relevant data to track outcomes and inform future
counseling efforts.
Frequent family communication using various methods and utilizing technology
Organizing and facilitating events such as Scholarship Night, Academic Signing, student panels, parent workshops, etc. Working collaboratively with the high school student services team to facilitate and/or support scheduling, course handbook, credentialing, support, testing, diploma requirements, graduation seal requirements, at- risk graduation progress tracking, and credit recovery. Lead College Credit Plus coordinator grades 7-12. Work collaboratively with the Career and Workforce Coordinator to organize career exploration activities, industry credentialing, and informational sessions on military opportunities. Establish and nurture partnerships with TriVillage Chamber, Success Network, and Business Advisory Council to create additional opportunities for students. Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents to increase awareness of available pathways and resources. Lead PSAT coordination efforts. Utilize SchooLinks for a variety of students needs including graduation planning, scheduling, and college and career planning. Knowledge of MTSS/Branching Minds, PowerSchool, and career development platforms such as SchoolLinks. Note: This job description is subject to change based on the evolving needs of the school and student Professional Development: Be available for education and counseling related purposes outside the instructional day when requested to do so and under reasonable terms Serve on committees and participate in school related activities in a professional and responsible manner Complete an individual professional development plan according to procedures adopted by the district Learn and implement the administrative procedures associated with the teaching assignment; for example, applying for a field trip or conducting a fundraiser Communication and Collaboration: Communicate and consult with teachers, parents, school support staff, and community agencies Make appropriate referrals of students for supplemental help, or to community agencies Provide opportunities for parent education Attend school faculty, team, parent, and committee meetings as appropriate Use sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy when interacting with students, parents and the community Maintain the confidentiality of information that is not public domain Work cooperatively with peers, administrators and support staff Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or related field (Master's preferred). Appropriate State of Ohio certificate/license in School Counseling. Experience working with high school students in an educational or counseling capacity preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders including students, teachers, parents, and community partners. Familiarity with Ohio educational policies and resources, including, but not limited to, Ohio Means Jobs and CCP guidelines. Other: Participate in periodic review of the counseling program Maintain appropriate personal appearance and hygiene Observe all safety and health regulations of the building and district Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, the Superintendent or his/her designees Working Conditions: Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather; that is, being prepared to come to school on all scheduled work days, except calamity days Some interaction with unruly children Occasional interaction with angry or distraught adults Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, reach with hands and arms Occasional requirement to lift, carry, push and pull various items; for example, books and supplies, up to a maximum of 25 lbs.
