Full job description Summary The Coordinator advises and supports student organizations to provide safe and inclusive activities and environments for each student to develop a sense of belonging at the University. This work will be achieved by providing organization members and student leaders with intentional and integrated learning experiences that prepare them for meaningful and purposeful lives. The Coordinator is also responsible for enhancing student engagement through targeted outreach with incoming students as well as delivering innovative and diverse programs in support of a vibrant campus community.
Essential Functions Assist with the advisement and support of over 350 student organizations via annual recognition, event and travel registration processes, data collection concerning students' co-curricular involvement, as well as regular meetings with student leaders, organization advisors, and key external constituents Generate and implement strategies to create individualized involvement plans for incoming students to assist them in feeling more connected to campus, as well as coordinate University-wide student engagement initiatives (e.g., Campus Fest and the Involvement Fair) Assist with the compliance of student organizations, including member education and officer trainings, anti-hazing workshops, and Title IX training requirements Directly advise assigned student organizations through mentoring relationships with student officers, assisting student leaders to develop and monitor budgets, as well as planning and executing programs and events Develop, implement, and evaluate ongoing trainings for organization members and advisors on topics including, but not limited to, career and life readiness, Design Thinking, diversity and inclusion, harm reduction, hazing, and sexual misconduct Recruit, select, train, supervise, and evaluate assigned contracted graduate and undergraduate students, volunteer practicum graduate students, student office assistants, and/or interns
Assist with University-wide programing coordinated by the Student Engagement including Summer Orientation, Fall Welcome, Homecoming, Falcon Family Weekend, Sibs N Kids Weekend, and Applauding Excellence Provide assistance and support to the Associate Director Participate and represent the University, division, and department on committees and at official functions Complete other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications The following Degree is required: Bachelor's degree required. Degree must be conferred at the time of application. The following Degree is preferred: Bachelor's degree in communication, education or business The following Experience is required: 1 year student and/or student organization Mentoring/Advising 6 months experience event planning 2 years of experience as a GA or student employee is equal to 1 year of professional experience The following Experience is preferred: 1 year experience reviewing and auditing programs and events executed by student organizations 6 months experience training/teaching or student coaching 6 months experience developing and assessing student learning outcomes 6 months experience responding to student issues, concerns, or crises 6 months experience supervising staff 6 months experience with OrgSync, Collegiate Link, or other comparable software platforms Additional Information Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory Demonstrated experience working in the areas of student programming in a university or college setting Demonstrated advising or student success coaching Evidence of successful collaboration with faculty, staff, and students Excellent communication skills with proven experience in group presentations, writing, and editing Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks Ability to work with diverse groups of people Demonstrated knowledge of learning outcomes, assessment, and evaluation Demonstrated ability to provide programmatic oversight and leadership Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and assess new and existing programs and services Evidence of ability to incorporate student learning and development philosophy into services and programs Demonstrated skills as a team player Familiar with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications as well as internet and email
