Position: Coding Coordinator
Primary Function:
As a full-time Coding Coordinator at our company, you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate coding for reimbursement and data collection purposes. Your responsibilities will include coordinating daily coding activities and supporting staff members.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate daily coding and coding support functions within Health Information Management Services.
Review exception reports, address discrepancies, and identify opportunities to optimize inpatient DNFB.
Act as a liaison between facilities, physicians, and ancillary departments to resolve account-related issues.
Develop coding policies and procedures in alignment with industry guidelines.
Facilitate training sessions on coding guidelines, regulations, and payment schemes for coding staff.
Serve as a coding subject matter expert for other departments as assigned.
Analyze trends and propose improvements to enhance coding section performance.
Ensure database accuracy, handle queries, and generate reports related to coding and abstracting.
Conduct quantitative and qualitative reviews to verify coding and abstracting accuracy.
Code inpatient and outpatient accounts as needed to prevent backlog situations.
Education and Experience Requirements:
RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification or equivalent certification/degree.
College credits in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Three years of coding experience in a Health Information Management Department or equivalent.
Experience with implementing and maintaining computer systems.
