Position Summary/Description: Flexible work arrangements, including virtual/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine's Working Forward initiative. As such, this position's work location is designated as virtual OR hybrid. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit's business needs.
The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a Business Services Coordinator. The primary duties for this position is tracking, projecting, and analyzing clinical and academic finances. The duties of this position also include functions surrounding creating and tracking Physician/Advanced Practice Providers work schedules (on call pay, extra service pay and shift buyout assisting with constructing compensation plans when needed, medical records and other database tracking, and survey completion Association of Academic Chairs of Emergency Medicine ( AACEM ), American College of Emergency Physicians ( ACEP ), Society for Academic Emergency Medicine ( SAEM ), etc. Additionally, provides monthly financial grant reconciliation for Geriatric Emergency Department Consortium ( GEDC ) grant. Responsible for reviewing and signing off on all invoices and submitting into database for r processing. Will provide reports on a number of financial activities for the GEDC grants, such as what funds were spend on for a particular period. Works as project manager determining and submitting when Independent Contractors are required for projects and following appropriate protocol for approval. In addition, maintain financial health and ensuring accurate financial records are being submitted.
This is a key position in the department which interfaces with various University and UNC Healthcare personnel as well as over 150 department personnel. This position works in collaboration with the Faculty Scheduler, Business Officer and Associate Chair of Administration ( ACA ) on various department projects and duties in the department.
The position will use the database Effort Certification and Reporting Technology (ECRT's) to determine if all faculty and staff are being paid appropriately from grants and contracts and will notify Finance & Research Support Team ( FIRST ) team in a timely manner of changes that need to be made to personnel and salary sources to align with approved grant budgets. This position will create and manage the compensation plan for faculty in accordance with policies and procedures in School of Medicine. This information is then used directly in creating the faculty clinical emergency department schedule to determine shift buyout for clinical faculty.
The position requires effective communication with all levels of administration from co-workers to faculty. Must be team oriented to ensure missions of department of Emergency Medicine as well as UNC hospitals, UNC faculty Physicians and UNC School of Medicine are met. Teamwork in this position is essential as they communicate with a range of departments and employees. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
