Aquatics Programs Swim Lesson Director YMCA at Norton CommonsYMCA of Greater LouisvilleProspect, KYApply The Norton Commons Branch of the YMCA of Greater Louisville is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, Swim Lesson Director that will be responsible for the overall quality and value of our swim lesson as well as supporting our aquatic operations. The Aquatics Programs Swim Lesson Director is responsible for the management of swim instructors, certifications, volunteer/staff development and financial development. This position will assist the operations director with guarding as needed. This position must be available for swim lessons on Tuesday/Thursday evenings until 7:30pm and Saturday mornings until 12:30pm to ensure quality experiences in swim lessons as well participant engagement.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Uphold the mission of the YMCA, and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming natureDevelop relationships that have a positive impact in our communityEnsures excellent member service and meet Association standards Actively participate as part of the YMCA at Norton Commons leadership team Recruit, hire and retain swim instructors year round Train, lead and supervise approximately 20 swim instructors Perform the required risk management tasks to include: safety audits and drills, inservices, staff observations, chemical and pump room operations and general pool maintenance Manages and monitors department budget with a focus on swim instructor salaries and program growthMaintain swim instructor certification records and prepare reports regarding compliance with all state, county and YMCA regulations Continue to serve the community with growth of programsProvides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign, including volunteer recruitment and development Participates in Association Aquatics cabinet to ensure consistency and quality in their department Rotating Manager on Duty assignments specifically for Aquatics area KNOW HOW/REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree or commensurate work experience in aquatics and/or recreation preferred Current Lifeguarding Certification, which includes First Aid, CPR professional level, and Emergency Oxygen Administration provided by the YMCA of Greater Louisville Strong organizational skills and ability to navigate multiple technology platforms Strong communication skills with multiple generations CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification, provided by the YMCA of Greater Louisville YMCA Lifeguard Training certification, provided by the YMCA of Greater Louisville YMCA Swim Instructor Training certification, provided by the YMCA of Greater LouisvilleEFFECT ON END RESULT: Successful performance in this position results in vibrant and safe services utilized to deliver the YMCA mission as well as member service. Participants will encounter staff and programs that will allow the development of human potential and build good health and promote positive self-esteem and safety. STARTING SALARY:$43,000 (based on experience) Must be available nights and weekends
