Job summary
The First Year Center's mission is to assist incoming students in finding the right major and graduation plan, and provide support throughout their college journey.Advisers in the First Year Advising Center will manage a caseload of students and help them with academic planning and transition to college life.Advisers will also act as liaisons to professional schools or the College of Arts and Sciences and contribute to retention initiatives.

Responsibilities
• Manage a caseload of students and provide guidance and support for academic planning and transition to college life.• Serve as a liaison to a professional school or the College of Arts and Sciences for effective communication regarding student progress and engagement.• Contribute to retention initiatives at the departmental and university-wide level.• Collaborate with academic colleagues to develop academic advising protocol and programs for first-year students.• Assist students in finding the right major and create graduation plans.• Identify and help students facing challenges throughout their college journey.• Utilize strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students.• Possess technical and database skills for efficient record-keeping and communication.• Demonstrate skill in working with students to achieve educational goals.
Requirements
• Master's Degree in Education or equivalent combination of education and experience.• Minimum of two years of experience in an educational setting.• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students.• Ability to work collaboratively with academic colleagues.• Possess strong technical and database skills.• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
