The intern shall use analytical work to identify, quantify, and implement corrective actions to improve the overall performance of the processing plant equipment and the processing maintenance work management processes.The qualified candidate will:Participate in the review of new installations to ensure their maintainability and reliability.Participate in formal Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to identify and eliminate repetitive failuresPerform cost/benefit analyses and associate impact to cash flow to evaluate proposed solutionsWrite standard Work Orders, establish job BOMs, and initiate inventory changes commensurate with Job BOMsAssist the maintenance planners with reliability analysis of proposed equipment modificationsMake specific recommendations to improve machinery performance and reliability based on analysis of process and failure dataAssist the Reliability Engineer in Creating and Maintenance Failure CodesMake recommendations for PdM tasks for specific equipmentProvide technical assistance to maintenance supervisors, planners, and maintenance technicians in the form of specific data analysis on systems configuration and performanceAssist the project engineer with the project life cycle managementDevelop project scope of work documents including technical site specificationsAssist the project engineer with project monitoring and control processesAssist planner with constructing projects and outage Gantt chartsPerform Earned Value Analysis and propose corrective actions to redirect failing projectsReview and update equipment Bill of MaterialsOther activities as reasonably requiredQualificationsWorking toward a bachelor's degree (or higher) in electrical, mechanical, manufacturing engineering or related discipline.Junior year or higher would be preferredMS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)MS Project experience preferredMS PowerBi experience preferredComprehensive knowledge of engineering principles (fluids, heat transfer, electrical systems, mechanics of material, dynamic, etc.) and ability to apply them to real life examplesFinancial analysis preferredWillingness for development and ability to work with cross functional teams3.0 GPA or betterStrong analytical problem-solving and critical thinking aptitudePrior experience with CMMS or ERP systems preferredEffective written and oral communication skillsAbility to navigate and interpreted engineering documentationWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see.Additional InformationKey Competencies:Quality Communication: Communicates regularly, both written and oral, in a wide range of forums to both operations and maintenance personnelProject Management: Coaches/supports others to manage improvement projects - required to track project progress and reportTime Management: Able to pace own work. Demonstrates a high degree of attention to detail.Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see.Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts.Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.
