As the Statewide Accounting and Reporting Services (SARS) Manager you will lead the SARS team, which is within the Office of the State Controller, and is responsible for statewide year-end closing coordination; preparation of the Oregon Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR); statewide accounting policy and the Oregon Accounting Manual; ad hoc reporting development and management, statewide audit review and ACFRS maintenance. You will interpret generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), lead the SARS unit in developing and issuing statewide policies, providing training, and gathering and reviewing agency financial information for the preparation of the ACFR.

What We Are Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
Seven years of supervision, management, or progressively related governmental accounting and reporting experience; OR
Four years of governmental accounting and reporting experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field.
Desired Attributes:
Expert in accounting and financial reporting and providing advice/recommendation to management, with effective verbal and written communications skills.
Extensive knowledge of accounting standards promulgated by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and financial statements prepared in accordance with those standards, as well as knowledge of certain state and federal laws and regulations.
Knowledge of the Relational Statewide Accounting and Reporting System (R*STARS) and Statewide Financial Management System (SFMS)
Extensive experience applying analytical review techniques and conducting financial analysis and accounting research.
Experience in policy and procedure development in accounting and financial reporting.
The ability to lead in a team setting, actively demonstrating a willingness to collaborate, share information, and contribute to the unit's successes.
Preference Statement:
Preference may be given to current or former State of Oregon employees and/or candidates that possess Certified Public Accounting (CPA) certification.
