Water Resources Technician

Job Description and Duties
This position requires someone who will perform functions of a Water Operator, such as assisting with project surveillance and water quality services at dams, canals, and other features of the State Water Project. Assists in performing visual inspections and monitoring of Aqueduct and Right of Way Wells. Asist with the water quality program in the San Luis Field Division. During outages or in emergencies must be willing to work irregular hours. May be required to work weekends and holidays.

This is a Post & Bid vacancy for Bargaining Unit 11 for lateral transfer of DWR employees. Other qualified applicants may be considered after the Post & Bid process is completed.

We are seeking candidates with knowledge of algebra and arithmetic operations and doing computing neatly and accurately as well as experience with using of databases. Incumbent must have the ability to communicate effectively, work together with others as a team member and be able to maintain regular, consistent, predictable attendance, and exercise good judgment and good safety practices. Candidates should have a basic understanding of flow meters and mathematics, electronics, and computer skills are desirable. Able to maintain regular, consistent, predictable attendance, and exercise good judgment. Good driving skills are a must. The incumbent must have physical strength and stamina to walk over 2,000 stairs twice a month, climb up and down the face of the dam, over rocks and wet slippery surfaces. Must be able to move and transport heavy equipment up to 50 pounds into remote stations, walk long distances, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
