The Volunteer Engagement Manager is responsible for developing, executing, and assessing volunteer engagement strategies for volunteer and member retention. This position establishes the business process and implementation plans for the council in all matters of volunteer engagement. The Volunteer Engagement Manager is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality volunteer support, including volunteer onboarding, service unit development and support, and other engagement opportunities. The position works extensively within the organizational customer relationship management system and experience in Salesforce is required. This position contributes to the achievement of statewide membership goals and is accountable to membership retention key performance indicators.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Membership Development Develop organizational member and volunteer onboarding, renewal, and engagement strategies to drive membership growth. Contribute to and integrate recruitment and new member engagement initiatives into comprehensive engagement strategy. Provide guidance and leadership by coaching team members in successful volunteer engagement strategies, skills, and communication. Contribute to annual membership calendar and plan, focusing on volunteer engagement initiatives. Manages resources and initiatives driving local service unit development and family engagement. Business Process & System Administration Maintain statewide volunteer support resources and train staff on their delivery (i.e. Volunteer Policies and Procedures, Volunteer Essentials, Safety Activity Checkpoints, etc.). Develop and train staff on reference materials and standard operating procedures related to troop support and renewal. Evaluate performance of member renewal campaigns in coordination with department management team. Manage all aspects of the technical member renewal process. Train staff on renewal process and support internal troubleshooting. Makes recommendations for improvement or enhancement to data and renewal processes to ensure standards in system administration and maintenance are achieved. Support onboarding for new membership staff - training to volunteer support processes and best practices and maintaining staff training resources. Keeps current on organizational knowledge and best practices by participating in GSUSA webinars and utilizing national resources. Performs other duties as necessary or assigned. PRIMARY CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborates with other council teams including marketing, volunteer support, and program to ensure the effective implementation of statewide renewal and member engagement strategies. Collaborates with regional membership teams to support professional development of volunteer support specialists and local application of statewide renewal and engagement strategies. Collaborates with the Volunteer Training and Member Relations team to drive training compliance and adoption of organizational conflict management framework. Ensure compliance with GSCO policies and operational guidelines. In accordance with the philosophy of Girl Scouts of Colorado, the person filling this position may occasionally be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed on this job description. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Formal Training Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in volunteer management, nonprofit management or related programs; or an equivalent combination of skills and experience. Experience Experienced in data management using sales/customer management software (Salesforce) required. Experience developing standard operating procedures required. Experience in membership development, recruitment and/or retention. Experience in volunteer resource management. Experience leading, facilitating trainings, or teaching in a virtual environment preferred. Demonstrated success with project management working cross-functionally and working in a regional or statewide manner. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent skills planning and leading cross-functional projects, including proven success in project management and in a collaborative, team environment. High level of interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to be a people leader and organizer. Analytical thinker and ability to solve problems by providing practical solutions. Ability to effectively and professionally present information and respond to questions from internal GSCO staff and external GSCO audience including staff, volunteers, Girl Scouts, parents, and the community. Strong motivational, organizational, detail orientated and problem-solving skills. Ability to make a work plan autonomously, track task responsibilities, and implement work plan. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, both administrative and programmatic, and to multitask and prioritize. Must have the ability to work with and retain sensitive and/or confidential information while understanding and ensuring that it is only shared with those who are privy to such information. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with employees, volunteers, customers, and vendors verbally and nonverbally both in person and in writing. Additional Requirements Must be at least 21 years of age, with 5 years of driving experience. Must possess a valid and current license to operate a standard motor vehicle. Must pass all required background & motor vehicle record checks. Must be fluent in speaking, reading, & writing English. Desired to be fluent in speaking, reading, & writing Spanish. MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED Computer and related software, telephone, e-mail, fax machines, copiers and equipment commonly found in an office environment. WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES Variable working schedule including potential for multiple evening meetings each month, weekends, and some overnight stays. Frequently: Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Occasionally: May be required to transport Girl Scout materials weighing up to 30 pounds with or without assistance. Regular travel throughout council jurisdiction may be required. Access to transportation with insurance at required state levels to conduct business statewide. Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to the Girl Scout insurance company. This position requires extended periods of viewing electronic screens. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. SALARY This position pays $55,000-$60,000 annually.
