DescriptionPosition at Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists - Albuquerque Veterinary Lab Technician Full-time We are seeking a skilled and experienced Veterinary Laboratory Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinarians by performing various laboratory procedures, conducting diagnostic tests, and ensuring accurate and timely results for our patients.

We are a state-of-the-art facility at the base of the Sandia Mountains that provides emergency and specialty care for sick and injured pets by skilled doctors.   Responsibilities: Collect, label, and prepare samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) for analysis, ensuring proper handling and storage according to established protocols.Conduct a wide range of diagnostic testsEnsure all lab work that is sent out is appropriately labeled, packaged and shipped to outside laboratory. Verify shipment location, packaging requirements, and delivery specifications for each sample, and arrange pickup from courier. Report results to DVM and update patient records in a timely manner.Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration, maintenance, and cleanliness to uphold quality standards and accuracy of test results.Perform routine quality control procedures, including running control samples, verifying instrument performance, and troubleshooting technical issues as needed.Manage laboratory supplies and reagents, monitoring inventory levels, and ordering replenishments as necessary to support uninterrupted laboratory operations.Maintain accurate records of supplies, and equipment usage, tracking expiration dates and disposing of outdated materials appropriately.Collaborate closely with DVMs and support staff to prioritize and expedite urgent or critical laboratory tests. Communicate effectively with veterinary staff to ensure clear understanding of sample requirements, test protocols, and reporting procedures.Other tasks as assigned. Qualifications: Credentialed Veterinary Technician highly preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a hospital setting. Proficiency in performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in sample handling, processing, and documentation. Familiarity with laboratory equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
