Treatment Plant Class I Principal Operator

Job summary
Serves as lead worker and backup to the supervisory Chief OperatorPerforms and directs treatment process operations and staff on an assigned shiftEnsures compliance with applicable permit and environmental regulations

Responsibilities
• Maintains an extensive knowledge of plant operations, treatment processes, and chemicals• Ensures permit compliance and understands regulatory requirements• Performs complex calculations and analyzes data• Uses computer and software for various tasks• Maintains effective relationships and provides training• Briefs oncoming shift and schedules operational adjustments• Trains operators and works with treatment plant equipment• Works in adverse indoor and outdoor conditions• Works during County closings as essential personnel
Requirements
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience• Equivalent combination of experience and training• Hold a Virginia State Wastewater License applicable to the assigned Treatment Plant• Valid driver's license• Flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays• Must be at least 18 years of age• No felony convictions preferred• Must comply with Virgina Code Section 18 VAC 160-30-60• Criminal history record check and fingerprinting required
