Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week during academic terms and 40 hours per week during academic breaks) Student Technical Assistant positions (research field work) for the Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center (EOARC) in Burns, OR for Oregon State University (OSU).


This position will participate in a variety of field data collection activities associated with sagebrush rangeland restoration and seedling ecology research as well as data entry. Data collection will include estimates of cover, density and biomass of grass, shrub and tree species. The applicant will also be involved in setting-up research projects, including plot layout and fencing. The majority of field work will take place in southeast Oregon.

15% Assist with recording data

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term* Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term* International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center. Additional Required Qualifications Self motivated


Preferred (Special) Qualifications Courses or experience in natural sciences/resources, botany, plant science, or related fields. Experience/training/interest in plant identification, vegetation sampling, and ecology. Experience living or working in rural/remote locations. General knowledge of computers and skills used in word processing and data entry. Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
