Responsibilities
• Serves and provides specialized services to students with disabilities• Plans and implements a program of study designed to meet individual needs of students• Develops, in accordance with district school guidelines, reasonable rules of classroom behavior• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students• Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods• Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress• Confer with other staff members and parents or guardians to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems• Maintain accurate and complete student records as required• Knowledge of problem-solving and conflict resolution techniques• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in area of assignment or specialization• Must possess and maintain Arizona State Department Teacher Certification with endorsement(s) in area(s) of assignment• Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District
Key Skills Needed
• Strong listening skills• Skill in oral and written communications• Skill in I.E.P. writing and academic assessment administration• Knowledge of special education regulations regarding identification and program development for students with disabilities
