Job Overview
The Computer Science (CS) Resource Teacher will work in the Computer Science Office to expand opportunities in the Computer Science Pipeline as well as provide entry points for existing and new courses within the LCPS Computer Science Pathways for students, curricular resources, professional development, and technical support for teachers as they implement new curricula in their classrooms. The CS Resource Teacher will engage in organizing events and workforce development initiatives such as Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day with industry partners. The CS Resource Teacher will work with Department of Teaching and Learning staff, Computer Science Office staff, and school-based staff to provide support and resources that deepen students' knowledge, skills, and habits of mind that characterize science, technology, engineering, and mathematics; that align with the Profile of a Graduate and support the LCPS vision of Culturally Responsive Instruction and Deeper Learning for all students. Roles and Responsibilities

Supports the development of robust Computational Thinking design processes (i.e. CT 1.0 and CT 2.0) and AI Literacy so that students can build workforce development skills and fulfill the tenets of the Profile of a Graduate by creating classroom resources that engage students in authentic, relevant, and inclusive classroom experiences. Supports the growth of the Computer Science Pipeline by implementing specialized computer science pathways into middle school courses such as Data Center Operations, Machine Learning, AI, and programming languages; acting as a subject matter expert for classroom teachers teaching these courses. Supports integration of computer science education across the elementary, middle, and high school curriculum. Develops teachers' content and pedagogical knowledge in computer science by offering ongoing and sustained professional learning experiences. Works with members of the LCPS Computer Science Office to create student computer science experiences that align with LCPS instructional initiatives. Works with the LCPS Community Connections and CTE Offices to provide workforce development opportunities and experiences for computer science students. Qualifications
Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable. Education Bachelor's degree Experience Three years of successful teaching experience in computer science courses preferred Licenses and Certifications Holds or is eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience in curriculum development related to computer science, computational thinking, or deeper learning is preferred. Experience with facilitating professional development with the VDOE Computer Science Standards of Learning or standalone Computer Science courses is preferred. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs. Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents. Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications, and excellent human relations skills. Physical Requirements
