Position Description
The Tax Manager will report to the Head of Tax Services and handle the following:

  Perform tax compliance functions including tax return preparation for high net worth individuals that encompasses individual income and gift taxes, complex trusts and ESBTs, small investment partnerships, and private foundations for clients of the multi-family office and trust company.   Prepare and analyze comprehensive quarterly income tax projections that incorporate multiple scenarios in order to determine the optimal tax planning strategies to recommend to individual and trust clients. Research complex tax issues and formulate opinions. Assist in training the tax staff as it pertains to tax technical, people development, client relationship, and project management skills. Capable of managing several complicated tax projects simultaneously. Collaborate with other members of the family office and client service group in order to deliver exceptional client service. Correspond with the IRS and state tax authorities in an effort to resolve tax notices and assist in an audit process, if applicable. Proactively keeps apprised of the ever-changing tax landscape (e.g., laws, proposals, tax strategies, etc.) as it relates to clients; communicates updates to tax director and tax team. Interact with clients relative to providing tax advice; offering assistance with compiling their tax documentation for tax return preparation, responding to clients' questions and/or requests, scheduling tax meetings, etc. Receptive to developing the critical skills necessary to build and sustain strong client relationships. Candidate Description
Qualified candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting with a minimum of 6 - 8 years' experience in public accounting specific to taxation of individuals and trusts. Applicant should also have knowledge of gift, GST, private foundation, and partnership taxation, particularly as it relates to alternative investments. Furthermore, applicant should have basic knowledge of taxation of financial instruments and general familiarity with financial products and trading including stocks, bonds, options and other derivatives.  Candidate should be conversant in GoSystem Tax RS (Fast Tax program), have excellent Microsoft Office and strong tax research skills, i.e., able to perform independent tax research and opine on the subject matter.  Candidate should be familiar with BNA and RIA tax research programs. 
Chilton seeks candidates who have outstanding analytical skills coupled with strong organizational and communication skills. Applicant should be proactive, motivated, a self-starter, passionate about client service, and work well in a small team environment.  CPA credential a plus.
