Job Description General Summary Under moderate supervision performs a variety of clerical duties to relieve the nurses of non-nursing functions. Schedules routine and emergency surgical cases or procedures using the computer in accordance with the departmental policy.

Reporting Relationships Reports to Posting Supervisor and Operations Manager of assigned department.
Working Conditions Works inside, in a clean, fast paced environment, with frequent interruptions and exposure to multiple crisis situations. Requires close attention to many details and neatness. Potential for regular exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials requiring the observance of Standard (Universal) Precautions and safe handling practices. Required to rotate shifts including weekends and holidays. This position has been classified as low or no exposure risk and does not require the completion of an annual testing, but may require 'just in time' testing if the need arises.
Physical Requirements Requires sitting most of the time 5-8 hours/shift. Requires walking to deliver schedules throughout hospital 0-3 hours/shift. Requires visual and hearing acuity to converse with staff, physicians, ancillary departments and outside hospital offices via telephone and personally 3-5 shifts
Qualifications Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience using a basic office suite, such as Microsoft, required. General office experience or previous unit secretary experience is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
