Full job description Do you love math and science? Do you have a passion for working with kids and serving the local community? Are you looking for an opportunity to gain experience or to supplement your current employment?
Olive Children Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to increase access to high quality educational opportunities, regardless of socioeconomic status.
We are looking for 2 qualified math instructors for our Summer Algebra Institute, for rising high schoolers.
Curriculum will be taught through EdReady, an adaptive online application for math readiness that designs a personalized learning path to fill students' knowledge gaps. In addition to the curriculum, students will engage with learning activities, STEAM projects, "college knowledge" workshops, and an in-person CSU campus tour. In addition to the teaching staff, there will be an on-site Camp Directors and Teaching Assistants to assist with operations.

Location & Work Schedule We will have 2 camp locations - in Hayward, CA and Fremont, CA. Candidates are required to be onsite during the duration of the camp, from 6/24-7/26 Camp runs for 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, 830AM-330PM Pay Instructor: $30/hr and up, commensurate with experience There are 8 hours of paid training at the same hourly rate Expected hours: 35 hrs per week for 5 weeks Training There is a MANDATORY paid training in Los Angeles, CA on Saturday, 5/18. Transportation and logistics will be covered by Olive. Instructor Responsibilities You will be in charge of live instruction and facilitation of activities and curriculum While curriculum is provided, you are expected to make adjustments and adapt it to the abilities and levels of the students Facilitate STEAM projects that help students exercise math concepts and support interest in STEAM majors and professional fields Administer EdReady pre- and post- assessments and Mindset reflection exercises Use data reports generated by EdReady to support instruction and small group activities Use EdReady data reports to guide student learning Instructor Requirements You must love working with kids and be able to motivate students to success California Teaching Credential in Mathematics or Science Required (or instructors that are currently in the credential program, i.e. possessing a STIPP, PIP, or Intern Credential) BS/BA degree in a technical field 3+ years experience working with and/or teaching students (high school, middle school level preferred) Possess excellent communication and multi-tasking skills Must attend paid training Pass a background check Job Type: Temporary
Pay: $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
