Responsibilities: Ghafari Associates is looking for Structural Engineers* to join the team. This role will support global projects and report to a manager out of the Dearborn, MI office. Candidates can choose to be FULLY REMOTE, HYBRID, or 100% IN OFFICE in any of our following offices: BIRMINGHAM , AL CHICAGO, IL DALLAS/FT. WORTH, TX DEARBORN, MI GRAND RAPIDS, MI INDIANAPOLIS, IN
Position Summary: The Structural Engineer E4, with limited supervision from the Manager of Structural Engineering, will provide the technical, organizational and communication skills to produce well-designed and coordinated construction documents for structural systems.
Primary Responsibilities Review and/or establish project scope, structural budget, and design approach with the Manager of Structural Engineering, Project Manager and/or client Perform as a project lead engineer for larger projects, managing the production effort of staff assigned to project in terms of quality, budget, and schedule Keep current with latest code publications and apply them in everyday analysis as applicable Produce innovative design solutions and give valuable engineering judgment to the team Formulate, design, and/or conduct analysis of structural framing systems and perform necessary calculations Conduct field measuring and checking at construction site to verify existing conditions Prepare construction documents e.g. drawings and specifications Communicate with other disciplines to produce well-coordinated construction documents Review shop drawing submittals to assure design intent is met Maintain project files containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference material, and other items Communicate scope changes to the Manager of Structural Engineering and Project Manager Mentor less experienced engineers Use available structural computer programs to enhance productivity and verify results with manual checks Performs related duties as assigned A Professional Engineering License is required for this role. Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (with Structural Engineering focus); Master's degree in Civil Engineering (with Structural Engineering focus) preferred from an accredited university Professional Registration; S.E. preferred
Experience: 7+ years of related and progressively more responsible experience in the structural engineering field
