Stipend ($1,000) Training Opportunity: Special Education Summer Institute
The Office of Specialized Services is providing a paid training opportunity to BPS staff who attend student Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings (paraprofessionals are not included). The three day in person training will focus on:
Understanding the new IEP forms and process as delineated by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). This new process will be implemented by all districts starting in September, 2024. The training will allow Boston Public Schools staff members an opportunity to learn how this affects their work moving forward. Attendees will learn how to: Prepare data for effective participation in IEP meetings. Clearly identify the student's: present levels of academic and functional performance, accommodations and modifications and drafting IEP goals. Understand how the shift in process affects building based current practices and understand its impact for students. Building based teams will have the chance to work as a group to learn and plan the process for their school. The dates of the training sessions are:
July 29, 2024 9am-3pm July 30, 2024 9am-3pm July 31, 2024 9am-3pm The training will take place in Boston, location is TBD.
Terms:
Compensation for attending the three day training is $1,000 and participants must attend all three days of training in person to receive any compensation. Stipend opportunities is limited to non-managerial staff. Managerial staff interested in attending can sign up through Vector and do not need to apply through this job ad. Participants must complete the end of training feedback form. By participating in the training, attendees will be eligible for PDP credits through Vector. To get the PDP credits, participants must also register in Vector.
