August/September 2024 VACANCY High School Theatre Tech Director ******** SHS (Co-curricular Stipend) Description: The High School Theatre Tech Director is responsible for advising students involved with various aspects of Technical Theatre, overseeing the production of the scenery for 3 different shows throughout the year and maintaining the production standards of the Staples High School extracurricular theater group, Staples Players. In addition to the tech director, the duties of overseeing and producing the plays and musicals are shared with the Co-Directors, Producer, Lighting Designer, Costume Designer, Sound Designer, and Set Designer.
The position is involved in three productions annually and includes 3 separate stipends. Responsibilities: Oversee construction of the set with student crew; Create plans to implement set design provided; Work with Set Designer to problem solve/troubleshoot plans; Communicate with and schedule student crew training and building sessions and call times; Instruct students in carpentry skills and tool safety; Run 3-4 weekend "work days" with students and parents during major productions; Communicate with parents of tech students, as needed; Collaborate and coordinate with Co-Directors, Lighting Designer and crew, Sound Designer and crew, and Set Designer as needed. Supervise and complete strike of the set at the conclusion of the production Qualifications Strong organizational and interpersonal skills in working with students, parents, staff, and production team; Excellent communication skills and willingness to collaborate with staff and students; Ability to serve as a positive, ethical role model; Ability to establish a strong rapport with students; Carpentry and construction experience; Technical Theatre experience is greatly preferred but not an absolute requirement; CAD experience is preferred but not a requirement. Reports to: Principal Start Date: August/September 2024 Stipend : According to Appendix B, Extracurricular Activities Salary Schedule of the WEA Contract -
