We are currently seeking Battery Cell Design Engineer, of experienced levels, to design and prototyping cylindrical cell which meets system level requirements.This position requires a strong understanding design feature of the cells, as well as its manufacturing process. A successful candidate should be able to determine every design detail and communicate with process engineer to successfully build prototyping cells also manage design iteration to improve performance and manufacturability to meet the system requirement. This position will be expected to possess the ability to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.The Role:Lead cell design and prototyping process.Develop design details of the battery component and generate assembly drawings from concept to productionCommunicate with process engineers for troubleshooting in cell prototyping process.Participate in test methods development and plans to characterize cell performance in real world EV usage scenarioHost discussions with suppliers regarding novel cell design and manufacturing.Work with multiple cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of battery cell into the vehicleWork with intellectual property team to patent your inventionsSupport the management of advanced cell technology roadmaps and design review processesQualifications: Over 5yr experience in cell development engineeringStrong documentation and communication skills are a mustGood Understanding how the design affects to cell performanceStrong Understanding on design details in cylindrical cell and its manufacturing processExperienced in generating drawing and for prototyping processCapable of constructing battery cost models while considering manufacturing processes.A critical and independent mindsetGood understanding and intuition of Li-ion battery electrochemistryKnowledge of battery operating characteristics at cell and system levelAble to design test plans to characterize battery performance and safetyExperience running cell tests and working with commercial lithium-ion cellsPreferred:>5yr experience in cylindrical cell development engineeringWorking experience in Tier 1 cell suppliersExperience with cylindrical commercial cell form factorsEducation:PhD, or Masters with 3+ years of relevant work experience, or Bachelors with 5+ years of relevant work experienceAt Lucid, we don’t just welcome diversity - we celebrate it!
