We are currently seeking Battery Cell Design Engineer, of experienced levels, to design and prototyping cylindrical cell which meets system level requirements.
This position requires a strong understanding design feature of the cells, as well as its manufacturing process. A successful candidate should be able to determine every design detail and communicate with process engineer to successfully build prototyping cells also manage design iteration to improve performance and manufacturability to meet the system requirement. This position will be expected to possess the ability to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.
The Role:
Lead cell design and prototyping process.
Develop design details of the battery component and generate assembly drawings from concept to production
Communicate with process engineers for troubleshooting in cell prototyping process.
Participate in test methods development and plans to characterize cell performance in real world EV usage scenario
Host discussions with suppliers regarding novel cell design and manufacturing.
Work with multiple cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of battery cell into the vehicle
Work with intellectual property team to patent your inventions
Support the management of advanced cell technology roadmaps and design review processes
Qualifications:
Over 5yr experience in cell development engineering
Strong documentation and communication skills are a must
Good Understanding how the design affects to cell performance
Strong Understanding on design details in cylindrical cell and its manufacturing process
Experienced in generating drawing and for prototyping process
Capable of constructing battery cost models while considering manufacturing processes.
A critical and independent mindset
Good understanding and intuition of Li-ion battery electrochemistry
Knowledge of battery operating characteristics at cell and system level
Able to design test plans to characterize battery performance and safety
Experience running cell tests and working with commercial lithium-ion cells
Preferred:
>5yr experience in cylindrical cell development engineering
Working experience in Tier 1 cell suppliers
Experience with cylindrical commercial cell form factors
Education:
PhD, or Masters with 3+ years of relevant work experience, or Bachelors with 5+ years of relevant work experience
