About Great Jobs KC: KC Scholars (dba Great Jobs KC) (www.greatjobskc.org) is a 501(c)(3) college scholarship and tuition-free job training program. Its goal is to support persistence and increase the college completion rate for low- and modest-income students across the six-county, bi-state service region and secure family-sustaining careers. The organization was designed to change thousands of individual lives and transform the region by preparing the local future workforce and contributing to the regional economy. The KC Scholars Scholarship Program awards traditional college scholarships to high school juniors, adult learner scholarships to adults 18 years and older, and college savings match awards to high school freshmen.
The Great Jobs KC program provides tuition assistance to approved career training programs in high-demand industries such as construction, healthcare, information technology, logistics/warehousing, manufacturing and service careers. With the support of Great Jobs KC, adults 17+ and older can learn the skills needed in one year or less to secure a job with family-sustaining wages. Great Jobs KC supports all its Scholars throughout their college or job training and into their first year of employment.

Increase Workflow Efficiency - Implement workflow optimization strategies to reduce design project turnaround time by 15% within the year, as measured by the time taken from project initiation to final delivery.Boost Website Traffic - Enhance UX design and functionality of the website resulting in a 20% increase in web traffic within the year, tracked through analytics tools such as Google Analytics. Enhance Newsletter Engagement - Implement A/B testing on newsletter designs and messaging to increase engagement by 25% within the year, as measured by click-through rates and open rates.Innovative Communication Solutions - Propose and implement at least two creative solutions to communication challenges identified within the target audience annually, measured by feedback and engagement metrics. Overview: As a Sr. Designer at Great Jobs KC, you will be pivotal in creating visually compelling and engaging materials to support our marketing and communications initiatives. You will be responsible for designing web assets, graphics for print and digital media, and other visual content that helps us effectively communicate our mission and engage our diverse audience. You will be responsible for managing the on-staff digital designer as well as any outside design vendors.
ResponsibilitiesDesign, update, and manage a Word Press based website including creating new pages, installing pop-ups, and coding design elements to meet the needs of the department. Adapt to evolving priorities and projects, managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines efficiently.Ability to use Asana to prioritize tasks and maintain brand and message consistency in a constantly evolving environment. Maintain a strong understanding of current design trends and best practices.Work closely with the Marketing and Communications Team to brainstorm and execute creative design concepts that meet project goals and objectives.Supervise and provide constructive feedback on the work of junior designers.Stay up-to-date on the latest design software and technology. Education:Bachelor's degree in graphic design, web design, or a related field. In lieu of a degree, the candidate can have 10+ years of applicable and proven experience. Work Experience: At least 6 years of design experience which includes graphic and web design (WordPress and plugins)Minimum of 2 years managing a junior designer or design team. Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is essential.Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of skills and experience.Proven experience with web design, WordPress, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator.Experience with coding as it pertains to design and functionality of website to meet design and communication needs.Strong portfolio showcasing your creative design skills and versatility.Proficiency in graphic design principles, typography, color theory, and layout.
