Why you'll love this job The Senior Specialist of Corporate Communications is part of American's Global Engagement team, a dynamic and collaborative group that helps shape the company's actions, drives engagement with internal and external stakeholders, and builds and protects the airline's brand and reputation. This position will largely focus on corporate and financial communications. In this role, you will help lead communications in support of American's three strategic objectives: Create a world-class customer experience, make culture a competitive advantage and build American to thrive forever. The work you do will help influence American's corporate culture and advance its business strategy. The right person for this job must be able to work in a high-pressure, high-profile environment with tight deadlines. This individual also must be able to tailor communications to different audiences in the ways that matter most to our team members, customers, media and the general public. What you'll do Developing an in-depth understanding of American's operations and business practices and the broader airline industry. Supporting the Corporate Communications team in developing and delivering complex messages in a clear and concise way for team members and external audiences. Identifying and supporting communications channels and processes to communicate with frontline team members as well as leadership, support staff, media, customers and the general public. Working to educate media on American, keeping all key stakeholders informed and updated along the way. Developing and maintaining important relationships with key reporters, handling media on site at events and acting as a company spokesperson. Developing and executing communications strategies around sensitive and fast-moving issues with tight deadlines. Working on real-time business issues with American's leadership team and driving the company's positioning.  Developing compelling communications plans and business education campaigns to help American's stakeholders understand important business decisions. Upholding the integrity of the Global Engagement team by developing and maintaining strong relationships with leaders across the company. Providing support and content for other company channels as needed. Ability to travel 25% of the time All you'll need for success Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/training 3 years of relevant work experience in communications or media relations  Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience 5 years of relevant work experience in communications or media relations  Experience working in corporate communications or media relations for a large, multi-national organization Knowledge of and/or experience in aviation and the commercial airline industry  Skills, Licenses & Certifications Being hardworking and results-oriented and having the ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment. Thriving in a fast-paced environment where you work under pressure and can meet critical deadlines both during normal business operations and after hours as warranted. The ability to make independent judgments and decisions while taking ownership of job responsibilities. Excellent time-management and project-management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects at once. Excellent written communication, verbal communication and presentation skills as well as strategic communications experience. Exercising sound business judgment and demonstrating professionalism and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information. Keen attention to detail and accuracy and a strong understanding of AP style. High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
