Your Impact As An Underwriting Specialist II You will be accountable for reviewing, evaluating and rating applications for insurance coverage in order to classify the degree of insurable risk and determine appropriate premium amounts.
Job Responsibilities: Review and evaluate insurance applications and related documents, including Elevation Certificates, loss data, Flood Risk Scores/Surge Reports, and other information needed to accurately evaluate and classify the degree of risk in relation to proposed coverage limits. Acquire all relevant information not included with the initial submission to ensure a detailed evaluation of the risk, and file documentation and compliance. Accurately rate the risk based on its merits and working within our granted letter of authority. Approve the coverages requested within specified underwriting authority, either as submitted or on a modified basis, or decline the risk in its entirety; refer if risk exceeds underwriting authority. Prepare quotations/proposals for presentation to potential clients. Build and maintain positive and constructive working relationships with agents and brokers. Review policy forms used in specific programs to ensure consistency. Knowledge of Certain Underwriters at Lloyd's reporting requirements. Handle Inbound and Outbound telephone calls to assist our clients.
You Bring Knowledge and Expertise: Experience: Commercial Property & Casualty insurance experience; customer account handling and/or underwriting. Understand multiple P&C coverage lines such as: Primary Flood, Excess Flood, Commercial Flood Proficient digital literacy to include Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel & Adobe Acrobat. Proficient math, oral and written communication skills. Candidate should be organized, able to prioritize work and possess effective time management skills in a fast-paced environment. Work well with team members and co-workers, participate in and support an underwriting team environment, advance your knowledge with formal educational courses, and interact with management. The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $57,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
