GRAIS educators work with students and families to develop a community model of communication and expectations that focus on balance and the whole student. Students are encouraged to be active participants in their learning by leveraging blended learning and advocating for themselves, as they become comfortable and confident in all learning platforms and modalities, guided by clear learning objectives and goals that are driven by data. POSITION OBJECTIVE: This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility for delivering high quality instructional experience through creativity, resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks, standards and the policies and regulations of the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District.RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Responsible for chairing annual IEP meetings.2.Responsible for writing and revising comprehensive IEPs for caseload including measurable goals, detailed PLEPs etc.3.Serve as liaison for a caseload of Special Education students.4.Responsible for effective management of the classroom environment.5.Responsible for using innovative approaches, and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn.6.Responsible for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student achievement.5.Responsible for using innovative approaches, and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn.6.Responsible for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student achievement.7.Responsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning, including, implementing specific strategies for students with mild to moderate disabilities.8. Provide small group instruction to students, as appropriate.9.
Design and implement modifications to school curricula, differentiated instruction, and positive behavior support programs as needed.10.Participate in collaborative consultation with special education teams, including service providers as well as Administrators.11.Responsible for providing equal educational and employment opportunities to all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, religion, gender identity, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, or homelessness12.Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Required certification in Massachusetts DESE license in Mild to Moderate Disabilities, PreK-82.SEI Endorsement3.Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university required; Masters degree preferredSOCIAL/CIVIC EXPECTATIONS: Freetown-Lakeville students and staff will: practice responsible citizenship; respect self and others; accept responsibility; and work cooperatively.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Teaching experience in an elementary setting, preferred2.Demonstrated experience supporting students with diverse learning needs3.Candidates who are licensed in another state will be considered if they qualify for the temporary license from DESE (must possess the equivalent license from another state and must have documented proof of working under that license for at least three complete school years).
