SOLICITATION PURCHASING SPECIALIST

WORK SCHEDULE
100% FTE,

Temporary (10-12 month appointment)
Days, 8:00 -5:00 pm, Hybrid (2 days onsite)
Mondays - Fridays

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Researches, manages, and processes customer requests in consultation with the Value Analysis team, Contracting, vendors, and customers.
Utilizes a variety of resources to identify contracted vendors and other procurement options that are compliant with UW Medicine Strategic Sourcing, University of Washington, and State of Washington rules and regulations.
Responsible for the review of new supply/equipment/service/vendor requests for compliance, product/vendor option research, solicitation of quotes, amendments and sole source justifications, and creation and management of complex specialty purchase orders.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

UW Medicine Supply Chain's objective is to ensure our patient care experience is enhanced by delivering a robust foundation of services, operational and technical support, and the sharing of comprehensive, relevant, and highly specialized supply chain management expertise. This includes a primary focus on customer service, as well as maintaining appropriate levels of general, medical, and surgical supplies throughout each facility.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Review all incoming non-catalog and eProcessing requests for product, services, equipment and new vendors
Analyze existing vendor options and available contracts, working with the customer, contracting and the vendor
Research, preparation and submission of requisitions and eProcessing entriesand review all new vendor requests to determine whether existing vendors or contracts options exist
Review tools to determine non-contract product/vendor spend. Work with requestor if informal solicitation needs to be completed
Identify possibly women and minority vendors to include in informal solicitation. Solicit vendor quotes following approved, procedural methods for competitive acquisitions. Work with department to change vendors as needed.
Provide customers with instructions for the completion of sole source justification
Consult with Contracting and Value Analysis on the requirements and specifications for the creation and management of blanket purchase orders (BPO). Consult with Contracting and Value Analysis on the requirements and specifications for the creation and management of capital/equipment purchases.
Use the Materials Management Information System (MMIS) to create purchase orders which include accurate and complete documentation

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
Two years of professional buying/Supply Chain/Finance experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required. Experience may substitute for degree requirement.
