Job Announcement Software Developer Intern National Alcohol Beverage Control Association, located in Arlington, VA, was founded in 1938 and is the national trade association representing the jurisdictions that control the distribution and sale of beverage alcohol within their borders. The mission of the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association (NABCA) is to support member jurisdictions in their efforts to protect public health and safety and ensure responsible and efficient systems for beverage alcohol distribution and sales.
NABCA's Management Information Systems (MIS) Team has an immediate vacancy for a part-time Software Developer Intern to work 10-15 hours per week . As part of the MIS team, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a highly collaborative team that utilizes agile practices to develop real world software, whether it is for improving operational efficiency for the organization or supporting services for members and subscribers. The Software Developer Intern will perform tasks designed to familiarize him/her/themselves with NABCA's programming processes, procedures, etc. The Software Developer Intern reports to the VP of Data Architecture and Software Engineering.

Duties: The Software Developer Intern performs the following duties:
Participates in projects to analyze, review, modify software programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements. Attends team meetings as requested and communicates with team members about the status of projects. Supports the MIS department's code review process by conducting research and completing related tasks as assigned. Archives retired processes/reports/code; modifies existing menu system to remove retired processes; retires legacy processing scripts as assigned. Works with developers to update documentation for member jurisdictions as assigned. Completes debugging, testing, data analysis, etc. and performs other special projects as assigned. Qualifications: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate college or university actively pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Programming, or related field. Previous experience as a software developer intern highly desirable. Experience using Miro, Slack, and Smartsheet a plus. Experience conducting basic research using the Internet or similar tools is required. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Teams, and Outlook. IT certification and knowledge of or hands-on experience with Unix Shell Script, Python, C/C++, Java, JavaScript, APIs, relational databases (Informix/SQL Server), and JSON are preferred. Strong written and verbal communications skills are required. Must have strong organizational, planning, and time management skills and be able to meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail and the ability to understand and follow precise instructions completely are essential. Must possess initiative, be able to produce work that is accurate and complete and be a fast learner who can meet monthly production deadlines. Must be reliable, professional, flexible, a team player with a positive attitude, and excellent communications skills. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
