Manage a portion of ship repair maintenance packages that may include installation, modification, and repair of complex equipment and systems. Functionally reports to the Project Manager and ensures that assigned work is completed on time and within an established budget. Often works with the various crafts (blast/paint, mechanical, etc.) to discuss and coordinate production work. Must also have a through understanding of shipboard systems and excellent communication skills to coordinate and work with Subcontractors. Skills Required A minimum 3-7 years of experience is common for this mid-level superintendent position. A SS-II will be very comfortable navigating the environment aboard a ship and be capable of functioning with limited oversight. Must have the ability to assess production progress and discuss production challenges with the Project Management Team and Production teams. Interacting with other shipyard departments including the customer (Government) is a common. Must have the ability to plan and coordinate work to deconflict and develop efficient workflows aboard ships during a repair availability. Education/Training/Certifications A bachelor's degree or 5 years shipboard experience is required.
