Job Description
This is the first level of the Sheriff Processing series. This position is responsible for providing assistance by performing clerical, receptionist, typing, data entry, and filing duties associated with processing inmates in/out of the detention facility, assisting victims, and processing court documents for the Sheriff's Department.

Essential Duties Processing and interpreting court documents. May interview inmates to ensure they are processed into and released from the detention center . Scheduling inmates for court appearances and transfers. Processing basic forms by reviewing for proper signature, ensuring fields are completed, verifying standard or basic data, and collecting fees. May process property and bonding company bonds when appropriate. Performing receptionist duties, such as greeting and assisting customers, answering and directing phone calls, taking messages, and maintaining department and County phone numbers. Performing basic office duties, such as copying, filing, faxing, typing standard documents, preparing, sorting, and distributing mail, entering data, and running basic or standard reports. Maintaining paper and electronic logs, forms, files, and other documents, preparing items for storage or destruction, and assists in maintaining the security and confidentiality of applicable information. Assisting departments, external customers, and outside agencies concerning the status of inmates and/or court documents. May assist with GCIC/NCIC research and inspecting incoming mail and packages for contraband. Job Requirements/Information This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing. This job requires a public safety background check to include motor vehicle histories, criminal histories, and finger printing. This job requires fingerprinting. This job entails fiduciary responsibility and requires a credit check. This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays. Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.  Sheriff Processing Associate I – $33,991 - $52,686 This is the first level of the Sheriff Processing series. This position is responsible for providing assistance by performing clerical, receptionist, typing, data entry, filing and inventory duties associated with processing inmates in and out of the detention facility, assisting victims, and processing court documents for the Sheriff's Office.
The Grade for this position is A13(2). Minimum Requirements:  High school diploma, or GEDOne year of customer service experienceDetention center and/or jail customer service experience preferredor, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed aboveValid driver's license Must obtain a Notary Public and GCIC/NCIC certification within one yearMust be able to work any shift to include shift rotations, holidays, and weekends Sheriff Processing Associate II – $40,200 - $64,319 Sheriff Processing Associate II is the second level in the Sheriff Processing series. This position is responsible for independently performing clerical, receptionist, typing, data entry, and filing duties associated with processing inmates in/out of the detention facility and processing court documents for the Sheriff's Office. This class is fully trained in Release and Admissions, Active Records, and Inactive Records and rotates in all areas.
The Grade for this position is B22(2). The 14 departments that make up the executive side are Police Services, Fire and Emergency Services, Corrections, Communications, Support Services, Financial Services, Community Services, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Law, Planning and Development, Water Resources, Child Advocacy & Juvenile Services, and Transportation. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County's values.

 
In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law.
