AtkinsRéalis has the depth and breadth of expertise to respond to the most technically challenging and time-critical infrastructure projects and the urgent transition to a low-carbon economy.How will you contribute to the team?Meets regularly with assigned Subrecipient project teams to understand and report on project status, including any issues or challenges with project execution.Performs periodic independent assessment of Subrecipient projects to determine project safety and health performance.Receives and reviews required Subrecipient submittals for conformance to PNWH2 Hub requirements and the terms of the Subrecipient Agreement. Coordinates required reviews of Subrecipient submittals by other PMO Team members.Works with Subrecipients and PMO staff to assemble and review packages of data for phased gate reviews to qualify projects for progression to the next funding and execution phase (Go/No-Go reviews). Tracks and manages to completion any punchlist items resulting from OCED conditional approval to proceed to the next phase.Reviews project safety and health plans for each phase of work to ensure that they meet OSHA requirements. Prior to having hydrogen on site reviews the Hydrogen Safety Plan to ensure it is adequate for the hazards associated with the planned operations. During construction performs periodic field inspections to review implementation of safety plans.Interfaces with Subrecipients to ensure work is completed in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring that safety is an integral element embodied in equipment design and specification.Prepares and/or reviews PMO-developed submittals to PHWHA and OCED, including plans, procedures, and reports.Relies on experience and judgment.Develops and directs implemention of PNWH2 level Health and Safety Program Documents.Performs surveys and assessments to determine compliance with health and safety regulations and requirements.Interprets local, state and federal regulations and determines the appropriate method of compliance.Is a subject matter expert in one or more health and safety areas (e.g., air quality management, asbestos management, industrial safety, hazardous materials management, hazardous waste management, ergonomics and/or injury and illness prevention).Develops methods for predicting hazards from historical data, workplace analyses and other sources. Identifies potential hazards associated with existing and planned systems, equipment, products, facilities and processes.Reviews causes and effects of hazards and then evaluates the probability and severity of accidents or exposures to hazardous materials that may result.Coordinates training sessions for employees/managers on health and safety regulations, requirements and practices.Assists with the development and revision of training materials as necessary to ensure compliance with regulations, current procedures and recognized best practices.Provides health and safety support for PHWH2 level operations.Prepares and reviews written programs, job hazard analyses, personal protective equipment assessments and other health and safety program elements.Develops, reviews, conducts and approves job hazard analyses and activity hazards analyses.Helps develop health and safety plans/procedures and reviews them to identify health and safety concerns.Participates in plan-of-the-day briefings and safety inspections.Responsible for ensuring Health and Safety Specialist 1 and 2 staff are qualified to perform their work.Responsible for the safety performance of other health & safety specialists.Performs other duties as assigned.Works under limited supervision.Significant creativity and latitude is expected.Strong Technical Writing skills.Participates in Monthly Safety Committee Meetings.What will you contribute?Bachelor's degree required in industrial hygiene, occupational safety, biology, chemistry, environmental science or a science-/health and safety-related field.A minimum of 7 years of experience as a health and safety specialist.Effective verbal and written communication skills.General knowledge of biology, chemistry and the physical/natural sciences.Detailed knowledge of local, state and federal health and safety regulations and site health and safety requirements.Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products and their use (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).Ability to understand and apply health and safety regulations and requirements.Ability to schedule tasks assigned to other health and safety professionals.Demonstrated ability to handle more complex work and work broader in scope such as more than one subject matter area of focus.Hydrogen specific safety experience.CIH or CSP certifications desired.ASP required.Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.What we offer at AtkinsRéalis:AtkinsRéalis realizes that health, mental and financial wellbeing, are all equally needed to achieve balance in life.
