Senior Finance Generalist Location Hybrid remote in Charlottesville, VA : The University of Virginia Division of Student Affairs is seeking up to two (2) talented and creative individuals to join our finance team and assist in stewarding approximately $50 million in professionally managed Division budgets and about $3 million in student budgets. Your Role and Impact as Senior Finance Generalist:
Budget Reporting: Lead on budget reporting for the Division of Student Affairs, including Division Leadership and Students. Support current departments and budget-leads, and work on continuous process improvement. The Division of Student Affairs works for and alongside students to promote the intellectual, cultural, personal, and social development of students while enhancing their physical and psychological well-being. Main functional areas include Student Health & Wellness, the University Career Center, the Office of African American Affairs, Student Engagement, Fraternity & Sorority Life, Multicultural Student Services, Newcomb Event Planning, Rotunda Event Services, Orientation & New Student Programs, and Judicial Affairs. In your role as Senior Finance Generalist your responsibilities will span budget management, finance, procurement, human resources, student services, communications, grants, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities: Budget and Analytical Support: Take lead on maintaining updated financial and personnel records while playing a supportive role in budget analysis and expenditure monitoring. Prepare monthly budget reports for the decision-makers and ensure accuracy of financial transactions. Assist in preparing biannual fee proposals and annual division budgets. Play a role in Workday Approval and Account Certification Process. Student Budget Support: Take lead on maintaining budget reports associated with allocations of and spending against programs such as the Student Activity Fee, the Cavalier Fund, and Student Declining Balance Cards. Other Reporting: Develop and maintain reports on processing status, allocations, spending, and compliance. Strategic Advisory and Problem Resolution: Support department or division heads on department budget monitoring and weighing alternatives. Continuous Process Improvement: Support work toward improving processes, and training staff and students on aspects of Workday and other systems. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree is required. Minimum of five years of relevant work experience. Strong financial acumen, budget development, and financial analysis skills. Proficiency in financial management software such as Workday. High level of comfort with MS Office products, with a focus in Excel and the ability to manipulate large datasets and compile meaningful financial reports. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Salary Range: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a hybrid position eligible for some remote work after an initial training period.
